Nagpur: Yet another MCOCA convict who was undergoing life imprisonment in murder and rioting case jumped the furlough period and went underground. The absconding convict is now a subject of massive manhunt. A MCOCA convict named Saurabh Vilas Kadlag is also absconding after being released on furlough. Incidentally, both the MCOCA convicts were to report jail on June 25.
In the instant case, the accused Ketan alias Chetan Ashok Shambharkar (35), resident of New Babulkheda, Ajni, was convicted by Special MCOCA Court on 23.5.2016 in a murder and rioting case and sentenced to life imprisonment under Sections 143, 147, 149, 302 of the IPC. The convict was lodged in Nagpur Central Prison as inmate number C9333. However, the convict Ketan Shambharkar was granted furlough (brief leave) by a court. He was expected to return to jail on June 25, 2017. Instead of returning to prison the MCOCA convict went absconding.
Ajni Woman PSI L G Chaudhari, on the basis of a complaint lodged by jail authorities, has booked the murder convict Ketan Shambharkar under Section 224 of the IPC and mounted a hunt to nab him.
The other absconding accused Saurabh Vilas Kadlag (24) was convicted by the Special MCOCA Court under Sections 143, 147, 148, 302, 149 of the IPC and sentenced to undergo life imprisonment. He too was lodged in Nagpur Prison. A court had granted him a 21-day furlough from 2.6.2017 to 24-6-2017. The murder convict was expected to present himself at the prison on 25.6.2017 at 1 pm. But he did not and since then went absconding.
Now, Ajni police are on the trail of both the absconding murder convicts.
