One-Year-Old Girl Dies Due to MR Vaccine Complications

Bhandara: A one-year-old girl died on Tuesday, three days after she was administered with measles and rubella (MR) vaccination, at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at Nagpur in Maharashtra following a diagnosis of gastroenteritis, reported The Indian Express.

According to the District Health Officer Prashant Uikey, the minor, Astha Godange, was vaccinated at Tumsar tehsil’s Garra village on December 15, along with her four-year-old brother Sargam. After taking the vaccination, they went home but on the same day Astha suffered loose motions and her parents took her to the local hospital, Indian Express reported.

As her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to General Hospital at Bhandara, which further directed her to GMCH in Nagpur on December 16, where, she succumbed on December 17. Meanwhile, he brother who was also admitted to the hospital was given discharge on Wednesday.

On December 7, an 11-year old girl, Aradhya Waghaye, from Bhandara’s Lakhni tehsil had died following complications developed after MR vaccination.
