Nagpur: An elderly woman residing in Gittikhadan has been duped of Rs 4.29 lakh in the name of cheap loan offer online. In her complaint to the police, Pramodita Ramteke (52), a resident of Gajanan Prasad Society, Seminary Hills, stated that she received a call from unknown callers offering Rs four lakh loan at 2 per cent interest rate.
The three accused, who have been identified by the cops, told Ramteke that this was an on-line loan offer and sent her a link wherein she filled all the details asked by the trio.
After having ensnared the elderly woman, the accused told her that the proforma sent by her was accepted by the company. However, for clearing the loan, the accused persons told Ramteke that an agreement was to be inked and they repeatedly contacted her for providing security fee and insurance. Under the pretext of these formalities, Ramteke was directed to transfer Rs 4,29,500 in bank account provided by the accused persons Ramteke transferred the money from time to time between September 12, 2016, and April 2017.
After waiting for nearly two years for the deal to materialise, Ramteke realised she was duped and approached police. On the basis of the complaint, Gittikhadan police registered an offence under Sections 419, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused trio. Further probe is on.
