Nagpur: The Education Minister Vinod Tawde on Friday informed Vidhan Sabha (Assembly) that in the current academic session only two Basic or Unit Tests would be conducted under ‘Pragat Shaikshanik Maharashtra’ programme instead of three Basic Tests. The second Basic Test was expected to be conducted in the month of October. It was likely to be held in December but the schools are pre-occupied in organizing annual social gatherings, annual sports meets etc.
If the second Basic Test is conducted in December, the teachers would be burdened with additional work. Moreover, people’s representatives, teachers’ organizations, headmasters’ organizations, parents’ organizations and others had requested not to conduct the test in December. Subsequently, the second Basic Test to be held in December has been cancelled, announced the Education Minister.
Tawde further informed that the Education Department conducts three Basis Tests. For the process of conducting the tests the traditional RC work was allotted. Meanwhile, the State Cabinet decided to implement e-tendering process for the purpose. This resulted in the July month test actually conducted in September.
The second test was to be conducted in October but it could not. Again, the test was slated to be held in December but as stated earlier, the test was cancelled. The concerned schools have been informed about the change. Now, only two Basic Tests would be conducted in the current academic year instead of three, clarified the Education Minister.
