Nagpur: The Opposition members on Thursday staged protest outside Assembly and raised slogans against Fadnavis Government. The Opposition described the hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP) announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday as ‘ cheating’ of farmers.
Former Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan, Leader of Opposition in Council Dhananjay Munde, NCP leader Sunil Tatkare and others raised slogans against the government outside the House. Talking to media persons, Munde said, “Union Cabinet’s decision on MSP offered to farmers on 14 crops is a ‘cheating’.
The Chief Minister welcomed the Central Government’s decision which in reality did not consider the recommendations of the State Government on the MSP price suggested by them. Not even half of the MSP on 14 crops as recommended by State Government was considered by the Modi Government. But still the Chief Minister Fadnavis is congratulating the Prime Minister and terming the decision as historic. The MSP announced by them is not what they had promised in 2014,” Munde claimed.
“The recommendation of the State for the year 2018-19 for rice was Rs 3270 but Central Government declared Rs 1750. Similarly, State had recommended Rs 2827 for Jowar and Centre announced 2430, Bajra Rs 3485 and Centre announced Rs 1950, Moong Rs 9234 and centre announced Rs 6975,” Munde said while giving break-up of recommendations.
