Nagpur: A young painter was hacked to death with an axe by an anti-social at Jaitala in MIDC area on Thursday. The accused has been arrested.
Identified as Rahul Gulab Khorgade (28), the deceased was a resident of Jaitala, near Bhau Cha Dhakka Restaurant. Cops arrested accused Satish Utbagle, also a resident of the same area in this connection. Preliminary investigations revealed that Rahul, who was a painter, was staying separately in a small house. His mother and brother were also staying in the same locality.
At around 11.30 am on Thursday, Rahul’s mother came to his house to give him tiffin and was shocked to find her son lying in a pool of blood. She screamed on seeing Rahul dead. Nearby residents gathered at the spot and informed the police.
Staff from MIDC Police Station arrived and started the probe. Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was a fallout of an old enmity between accused Satish and the deceased Rahul. Satish had a doubt that Rahul was pelting stones at his house. After he doled out life threats to Rahul, the latter had allegedly lodged a complaint with the police.
On Wednesday, again an argument broke out between them. After heated exchanges, Satish decided to teach Rahul a lesson. Last night, Rahul was sleeping in his house. Satish came and smashed his head with an axe, killing him on the spot. Cops conducted the inquest ‘panchnama’ and sent the body for post-mortem.
After registering a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, MIDC Police arrested the accused Satish.
