Nagpur: Old Kamptee Police have booked some unidentified person(s) allegedly for outraging the modesty of a woman over social messaging platform WhatsApp. Based on the complaint received we’ve booked the accused who called the victim via WhatsApp Call, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone V Shravan Dath S.
The woman was part of a WhatsApp group, which comprised people from various nations. The accused was also a participant of the same group. He reportedly tried to get in touch with the woman on November 21. However, when she refused his advances, he then tried to call her and also sent some objectionable texts, outraging her modesty. Following which the woman approached Old Kamptee Police Station.

“Prima facie the number appears to be of Pakistani origin. The details of the accused are still unknown and investigation is under progress,” DCP Dath said and added that, “In the meantime, an offence under Section 354 of the IPC was registered with Old Kamptee Police Station against accused. Further investigations are on.”
