Nagpur: A wave of panic swept through the residents of New Diamond Nagar on Kharbi Road in Nandanvan as a series of LPG cylinder explosions rattled the neighborhood. The chaos ensued when a fire erupted in a shed adjacent to a decorator’s house on Monday night, consuming decoration materials worth lakhs of rupees, including wooden posts, chairs, and other goods.
Thankfully, despite the intensity of the blaze, no casualties have been reported thus far. The owner of Saoji Decoration, Raju alias Vaibhav Sagarkar, had set up the tarpaulin roof shed to store various materials essential for his business, ranging from wooden posts to catering supplies and LPG cylinders.
The fire broke out around 9 pm, quickly engulfing the shed and triggering a series of explosions as the LPG cylinders ignited. The situation spiraled into chaos, damaging nearby vehicles, including a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler.
Rahul Khanorkar, a vigilant resident, promptly alerted the Fire Brigade, leading to the dispatch of fire tenders from multiple stations across the area. Firefighters from Sakkardara, Lakadganj, Cotton Market, Narendra Nagar, and Trimurty Nagar rushed to the scene, battling the inferno for over an hour before finally extinguishing the flames.
Despite their efforts, the cause of the fire remains unknown, leaving the community on edge as they assess the aftermath of the destructive incident.
