Nagpur: Tightening the noose against illicit liquor business during the code of conduct, Pachpaoli police on Thursday raided seven different places and arrested nine persons including three women in this connection. The police seized liquor bottles collectively worth Rs 26,650. It was learnt that the accused were trying to woo voters with liquor during the polling day.
Acting on the tip-off, the team of Pachpaoli police headed by DCP Zone III Rahul Maknikar raided seven different places and recovered huge quantity of illegal stock of liquor from the possession of nine accused. It may be noted that the 48 hours period starting 6 pm of Tuesday till 6 pm of Thursday was declared dry to prevent any attempt to lure the voters in lieu of liquor.
The accused have been identified as Azam Khan Wald Ramzan Khan (47) resident of Sweeper Line, Lashkaribagh, Swarup Deepkar Nandeshwar (20) resident of New Indora, Barakholi, Sareeta and Pinkky Dinu Thavkar, both residents of Lendi Talav, Chamatkar Gali and Pushpa Suraj Nagraj resident of Naik Talav along with their four accomplices.
Senior PI Ashok Meshram, ASIs Dhananjay Shisode, Raut, Pramod Rokde, Ashok Pund, Constables Rajkumar Verma, Chintaman Dhakhole, Sanjay Gite participated in the raids.
The arrest was planned under the supervision of DCP Zone 3 Rahul Maknikar and Lakadganj ACP Walchand Munde.
