Nagpur: “If citizens are smart, the city will also be smart and for this smartness, safety and security is of paramount importance. This vital aspect of safety and security can be achieved with adept coordination between the citizens and police,” stressed the Joint Commissioner of Police Rajwardhan Sinha. The top cop was addressing a meeting of Police Citizen Coordination Committee organized at Police Gymkhana the other day.
The Joint CP further said that the role of citizens in maintaining cleanliness for a beautiful city is as important as the role of cops in maintaining law and order. And when there is an adept coordination between the police and citizens, the task of providing safety and security becomes much easier, stated Rajwardhan Sinha. He lamented that unemployment is also playing its role in the spurt of crimes of different nature. In this situation, friendly ties between the police and people could be an important link in smashing the crimes together, asserted the Joint Commissioner of Police.
Addressing the gathering, renowned journalist and social worker Umesh Chaube appealed the police not to make the complaints lodged by citizens public. Making of complaints public could result in the lodgers getting threats from the anti-social elements, said Chaube.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, speaking on the occasion, threw light on the significance of formation of Rural Security Force and Panchayat Raj laws.
A galaxy of top police officials who attended the meeting include DCPs Ishu Sindhu, Abhinash Kumar, Latkar, Balkavade, and Kavita Dambhare, Pt Prashant Gaekwad, Jagdish Khare, Jaishree Khare, Chakrasan Patu, Gajanan Ladi, Dr Rajendra Gundalwar, Lalsingh Yadav and district coordinators.
