Police raid in Gangajamuna locality of Nagpur

18 women and 12 customers detained

Nagpur: In an attempt to shut down the illicit trade in Gangajamuna, a notorious locality in the city, the police conducted a raid. During the operation, the police detained 18 young women involved in the flesh trade and 12 customers. The raid took place on Wednesday afternoon, causing a stir in the Gangajamuna area.

The police had received information about the ongoing flesh trade involving underage girls in the Gangajamuna locality for the past few days. The higher authorities had given orders to the police officials to take action on this serious matter. Accordingly, under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Pote from Lakadganj Police Station, a raid was conducted in Gangajamuna on Wednesday.

For this operation, personnel from Lakadganj, Pachpaoli, Ganeshpeth, Tahsil, and Shantinagar Police Stations in Nagpur were deployed. Several brothels were targeted, and young girls involved in the flesh trade, as well as the customers, were apprehended. The detained individuals have been brought to Lakadganj Police Station for further investigation.

The crackdown on these involved women and customers engaged in the illicit trade has begun at Lakadganj Police Station, and their interrogation is underway.
