Police recruitment exam fraud: Applications of 13 aspirants cancelled in Nagpur

Nagpur: Acting tough, the Nagpur Police have cancelled the applications of 13 candidates who were found engaging in unfair practices during the recent constable recruitment exam held in the city. This action follows a thorough review of CCTV footage from the examination halls.

According to police, the candidates identified as engaging in the malpractice were assigned Chest Numbers — 996, 1059, 1058, 1015, 1082, 1084, 1086, 1087, 1088, 1129, 1128, 1127, and 1126.

The footage revealed that these candidates were involved in dubious practices during the exam. The scandal has also implicated police personnel in the investigation. Commissioner of Police Dr Ravinder Singal had suspended three officers, including Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Sanjay Chauhan. These officers were caught on camera discussing questions and assisting candidates with their answers during the written test, which took place on July 28, 2024, at Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering and Datta Meghe Medical College in Wanadongri. The examination malpractice came to fore during the scrutiny of the CCTV footage.

Meanwhile, the City Police have released a provisional selection list of candidates on Saturday.
