Police seize 31 chakris of banned nylon manja in Nagpur

Nagpur: Unit-04 of the Nagpur Crime Branch nabbed a youth and recovered 31 chakris of banned nylon manja and seized a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle collectively worth over Rs 1.21 lakh from his possession on Tuesday night.

Identified as Aman Kundan Narhare (22), the accused is a resident of Juni Shukrawari, Kotwali.

The police received a tip off that one Aman was trying to dispose of a huge stock of nylon manja at Juni Shukrawari road. The police laid a trap and intercepted Aman Narhare near Hedgewar Bhavan. He was going on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (MH-49/BT-0559) around 9.45 pm. The police team found a gunny bag containing 31 chakris of nylon manja which he was carrying. During questioning, Aman confessed to procuring the nylon manja from one Hardik Kesarwani (35), a resident of Juni Shukrawari.

Nylon manja, also known as Chinese manja, is banned because of its potential to cause fatal accidents.

A case under Sections 188 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 5, 15 of the Environment Protection Act, was registered against Aman and Hardik. Search for accused Hardik was on.
