Avinash Thakre’s proposal gets standing committee nod.

NMC Standing committee committee today gave its sanction to the proposal of forwarding to state government the demand for enhanced FSI to the housing scheme for poor sections of Nagpur city and also the NMC staff members. The scheme will be run on the ground of MHADA and the poor people will get low cost houses in the scheme. This information was provided by Avinash Thakre, the standing committee chief. He told that an area of 2 lakh squ.ft. will be used for this scheme from the area reserved for residential sector in the city’s development plan and the poor will be provided houses. He further informed that the construction will be of 5 lakh squ.ft. At present the FSI granted for the area is 1. But the administration had put the proposal of forwarding the demand for enhancing the area to 2.5, to the state government before the standing committee. The standing committee has given a go ahead to the proposal. The scheme is for the poor people who earn income up to Rs 20,000 per month.

A committee is organised under the chairmanship of Additional commissioner for the implementation of the housing scheme. The built up/construction area will be decided by this committee, informed Avinash Thakre.
At present the city generates 50 tonne wet waste. The standing committee has sanctioned a BOT basis plant for processing this waste and getting bio-gas.
The project is taking shape on the site of NMC. The footpath advertisement stands have been allotted to M/s Miraj for a period of three years, for an amount of Rs 93 lakhs, this proposal was also sanctioned by the standing committee.
Similarly the tarring of various city roads has been sanctioned. The standing committee has also sanctioned expenditure of Rs 83 lakh, 97 thousand and 224 for 5-day Nagpur Mahotsava. The contract of this Mahotsava is given to two companies. The Content Concert Communication has been given responsibility of Hindi Poetry convention and Shreya Ghoshal’s programme. Admark Event is to handle Nagpur local artists, Marathi Cine artists programme and Shubha Mudgal’s fusion event.
