New Delhi – In a major political update, the President of India has accepted the resignation of Shri Banwarilal Purohit from his positions as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
In a series of new appointments, Shri K. Kailashnathan has been named the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
The President also announced the following gubernatorial appointments:
1. Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan.
2. Shri Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana.
3. Shri Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim.
4. Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand.
5. Shri Ramen Deka has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
6. Shri C H Vijayashankar has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya.
7. Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, currently the Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
8. Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, currently the Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and will also serve as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
9. Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, currently the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and will also take on the additional charge of the Governor of Manipur.
Rashtrapati Bhavan stated in a press communique that these appointments will take effect from the dates the appointees assume their respective offices.
