Nagpur: President of India Droupadi Murmu arrived in Nagpur on Tuesday evening by a special Indian Air Force (IAF) flight for a three-day stay. This is the President’s first visit to the city after assuming the country’s highest office. She will inaugurate Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s majestic Sanskritik Kendra in Koradi on Wednesday evening.
President Murmu was welcomed by Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh Banwarilal Purohit, Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and others at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
The President proceeded to Raj Bhavan in Seminary hills from the airport amid tight security. A contingent of approximately 750 officers and policemen has been deployed around the Raj Bhavan for the security of the President.
On Wednesday morning, President Murmu proceeded to Gadchiroli where she will grace the 10th convocation of Gondwana University and lay the foundation stone for the proposed administrative building at Adapalli campus. The President will return to Nagpur after the programme. In the afternoon, President Murmu will participate in the Darshan and Aarti of Shri Mahalakshmi Devi at the Koradi Mandir. She will inaugurate the Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra at 4.50 pm.
