Nagpur: A prisoner lodged in Nagpur Central Prison died mysteriously even though reports suggested he succumbed to an illness.
The deceased Ashok alias Chhotu Shyamrao Burle (45), resident of Chitnavispura, was booked under Section 4/25 of Arms Act and Section 142 of Mumbai Police Act by Kotwali police and was sent to the jail on magisterial remand since 17.5.2016. On Wednesday (July 27, 2016) night, the prisoner Ashok Burle suddenly took ill and was taken to the Jail Hospital at about 3.10 am of Thursday. However, on the advice of Chief Medical Officer of the jail, Ashok was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) around 9.52 am as his health deteriorated. The seriously ill prisoner, however, was pronounced dead by the treating doctors at GMCH around 10.25 am.
Following the death of the prisoner, inquest panchanama was performed and his body was sent for post-mortem.
Dhantoli PSI Waghade, based on the information of Jail Guard Vishal Gajanan Rathod on behalf of Jail Superintendent, has registered a case. Further investigations are underway.
