Nagpur: The National President of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (Registered) Janardan Moon has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court demanding a probe into expenditure being made for the upcoming G20 meeting in Nagpur, a media report said.

In the petition, Moon said that for the G20 meeting, around Rs 200 crore have been provided by the Central Government and the responsibility of preparations has been given to Rambhau Mhalgi Probodhini. This matter should be investigated and the government itself should take responsibility for the G20 meeting, he said.

Moon has filed the PIL through counsel Adv Ashwin Ingole. The petitioner has objected to the fact that the responsibility of the G20 meeting has been given to Mumbai-based Rambhau Mhalgi Probodhini. “This organisation is affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP). Similarly, the President of this organisation is State Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who is also the Home Minister. Therefore the G20 meeting will showcase the influence of a particular ideology. Apart from this, no tender was floated for beautification of Nagpur and other related works for G20 meeting,” Moon said in his petition.

“The responsibility for carrying out G20 meeting works has been given to this organisation. Hence the possibility of irregularities cannot be ruled out. This is wastage of taxpayers’ money,” Moon said, demanding that the State Government should itself take the responsibility for the G20 works.

Moon further said that the beautification and other works are being carried out speedily but there is quality of work. Hence a thorough investigation into the entire matter is needed, he added.

The petition has made Foreign Secretary, State Deputy Chief Minister, Vice President of Mumbai-based Rambhau Mhalgi Probodhini Dr Vinay Sahastrabuddhe, Municipal Commissioner and Nagpur Commissioner of Police as respondents.
