Renowned media professional Punya Prasoon Vajpayee’s father and long time Press Information Officer Manikant Vajpayee, 78, passed away in New Delhi on Tuesday evening after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at 5.30 pm. Vajpayee who reside in Delhi along with his son Punya Prasoon was an officer from Indian Information Services (IIS). He had three sons including Punya Prasoon and his wife in his family.
The retired IIS cadre officer served as Press Information Officer (PIO) in Agriculture Department in Ranchi. Manikant Vajpayee was also associated with Aakashwani, Patna as a News Editor. He last served as PIO in Planning Commission. Post retirement, he was residing with Punya Prasoon. For long time, he has been suffering from age old illness.
