The 22ndEdition of one of the biggest architectural exposition held in Vidarbha by IIA Nagpur was inaugurated 10th January 2019
Nagpur: ‘Rachana’ – an exposition of Building & Interior Design Materials, Building Services, Home & Office Automation Systems and Construction Equipment organized by the Indian Institute of Architects – Nagpur Centre was launched on Thursday. The 22nd edition of ‘Rachana’ will be held till 13th January 2018 at the Ladies Club Ground, Civil Lines, Nagpur. The timings are from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

The Launch ceremony was held at the hands of Ar. Sunil Degwekar – Honourable Treasurer IIA NC, in the presence of Ar. Sujit Rodge – Hon’ Secretary IIA NC (Convener – Rachana 2019), Ar. Parikshit Choudhari – (Co-convener – Rachana 2019), Ar. P. S. Ahuja – Chairman IIA NC, Ar. Raviraj Sarwate – Vice Chairman Ar. Parag Yelne – Hon’ Treasurer, Ar. Jiten Shrivastava, Ar. Atulchandra Mendhekar, Ar. Aniket Khodwe.
While giving the welcome speech Ar. Sujit Rodge stated, “As the convener of ‘Rachana’ for the 3rd consecutive time, I would like to thank the team of Rachana for their faith in me. Nagpur is transforming as the commercial, transport and business centre of India and this is the right time to focus on the opportunities that this city has to offer us and economic growth acts as a catalyst for the development of construction industry of the region. ‘Rachana’ is set to become a brand of exposition in Central India.”
Ar. Sunil Degwekar spoke, “I’ve been associated with Rachana since the 1st edition in 1988 and working under the senior members of IIA I’ve learned a lot from them. It was my dream to inaugurate Rachana and I’m glad the happy moment is here. IIA Nagpur Center is the only center in India to organize Rachana consecutively for the 22nd edition. IIA Nagpur Center organizes various events for the teachers, students, professionals and for the citizens of Nagpur. May the footfall be greater than the last year.”
The visitors will be able to witness some of the best products & innovations in the building industry in recent times. The best-designed, arranged, presented and managed stalls will be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd and two consolation prizes. ‘Certificate of participation’ will be awarded to every exhibitor. The exhibitors, visitors and other stakeholder’s will benefit immensely from this exposition, as indeed, they have benefited from the previous editions of ‘Rachana’.
The Nagpur Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the second oldest Centre of IIA. The Nagpur Centre was inaugurated on 26th August 1973. Since its inception, the Centre has conducted various activities for creating awareness about the built environment.
It is acknowledged as the Best Centre at the national level, winning 9 Best Centre Awards and 5 Runners up awards and has the proud privilege of winning the IIA BEST CENTRE AWARD for four consecutive years from 2007 to 2010.
As a part of its contribution towards the society and for the development of Vidarbha, ‘Rachana’ is one amongst many activities routinely undertaken by the Nagpur Centre of IIA. ‘Rachana’ draws professionals from various fields, such as architects, interior designers, MEP along with consultants related to the infrastructure industry, contractors, developers, manufacturers, government & business establishment’s and of course, students and most importantly end users.
‘Rachana’ is the best avenue for reaching out to the masses and potential buyers as well as to familiarize oneself with the latest in building technology. With fast changing technology, Rachana acts as facilitator in bringing the most up-to-date knowledge on various goods and products, services, systems, automation and the very latest in innovative designs and technologies. The visitors are drawn not only from Nagpur and neighboring districts in Vidarbha, but also from the neighboring states, such as Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. About 15000+ footfalls were generated during the previous edition of the expo in 2017. The participants in the exhibition are from all parts of the country.
