Nagpur: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting at Kasturchand Park on April 4 at 5 pm. He will be campaigning for Nagpur candidate Nana Patole and Ramtek candidate Kishor Gajbhiye. The meeting assumes significance because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not addressing any public meeting in the city.
He is holding only two meetings in Vidarbha. The first one is at Wardha on April 1 and second one is in Gondia on April 3. In 2014 also, Modi had not addressed any public meeting in the city during the parliamentary elections. He had however, campaigned during the assembly elections a few months later.
In political circles Modi’s decision not to campaign in Nagpur for BJP candidate Nitin Gadkari is being attributed to the strained relations between the two leaders. The latter had indirectly flayed Modi a few times in last few months. Meanwhile, state Congress chief Ashok Chavan will address a meetings in the city on Monday to campaign for Patole. The first meeting will be held at Kumbhartoli and next at Bhaldarpura. tnn at 7.45pm. Earlier, he will hold a meet at Gumthala, Kamptee, Wani, and Yavatmal.
