Nagpur: Following a brief rest of few days, monsoon has again gone active in city. Heavy rainfall drenched city on Sunday night. Favourable conditions for rains formed after 8.30 pm and it rained heavily for about half-an-hour. The atmosphere became pleasant following the rainfall in the city.
Like always, the city roads disappeared under water following the rainfall. Water accumulated in potholes, coercing the riders to tread carefully on roads.
The meteorological department informed that monsoon has become hyper active in north and north-eastern States and its effect was anticipated in Maharashtra also.
Monsoon is also active in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha, it had gone inactive for some time. The first fortnight of July was good with respect to monsoon in Vidarbha and more than average rainfall was reported here. Since June, Vidarbha has received 497.3 mm of rainfall, which is 47 per cent more than normal. Usually, 337.4 mm of rainfall is reported in this period in Vidarbha.
Reports of good rainfall were received from many parts of Vidarbha in last 24 hour. Maximum of 45.8 mm rainfall fell in Yavatmal. Kalamb and Hinganghat received 30 mm, Bhandara, Sadak Arjuni, Kurkheda and Dharni received 20 mm, Bramhapuri 11.8 mm, Umred, Mauda, Deori, Arjuni Morgaon and Desaiganj received 10 mm and Murtijapur received 10 mm rainfall respectively. The city roads disappeared under water following the rainfall. Water accumulated in potholes, forcing the riders to drive carefully on roads.
