DySP (CID) Hanmant Soma Kshirsagar, who is the investigation officer (IO) in the case, produced Ritika before the JMFC (Court No 4) as her three-day PCR ended on Thursday. Seeking extension of Ritika’s PCR for two more days, the IO submitted that the accused and her friend Madhuri Sarda had escaped after the incident. Their medical examination was conducted 5-6 hours after Tehsil Police had taken them into custody but Ritika had not given any satisfactory reply in this regard, he added.

Similarly, the IO stated that the clothes worn by Ritika at the time of the incident were to be seized but were not found at her house. Moreover, the CID wanted to ascertain as to who helped the accused to escape after the tragedy, he added.

Defence counsel Adv Chandrashekhar Jaltare strongly opposed further remand of his client to police custody as she was already interrogated by the CID officers. After hearing both sides, the court extended Ritika’s PCR till Friday.
