Nagpur: A 40-year old inmate of Central Jail died due to deteriorating health conditions. He was accused in a rape case registered at Sadar Police Station.
The accused has been identified as Lingeshwar Prakash Charli, residing in Khalasi Line, Mohan Nagar, Sadar.

According to police, Lingeshwar was arrested on June 8, 2023, under different sections of the IPC and had been in custody since then. He was remanded to Nagpur Central Jail following a court order dated June 11, 2023. On May 11, 2024, due to his deteriorating health condition, Lingeshwar was transferred to Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of the jail. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Dhantoli Police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation.
