It seems the speeding bikers have failed to learn from the tragic road accidents in the recent past that were the fallout of recklessly driven vehicles. In a recurrence of similar such accidents, an elderly man was struck by a rashly driven motorcycle and killed while crossing Hingna Road on Thursday under MIDC police station.
The 65-year-old deceased, Apparao Anubaji Hanmane was a resident of Madnapur while the accused Pawan Bhaskar Kohle (22) is a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Reddy Godown Camp Area Gadchiroli.
Apparao was crossing Hingna Road, IC Square around 4.30 pm on Thursday when he came in direct path of the motorcycle (MH 27 AE 3752) driven at a high speed by Pawan Bhaskar. The victim was killed on the spot with the impact of the accident. Before the motorcyclist could escape the scene, he was held by the passersby.
MIDC police was informed and the victim was handed over to them. Cops have sent the body for post mortem to Government Medical College and Hospital. A case under Sections 279 and 304 (a) of the IPC has been registered against Pawan.
