Nagpur: A refusal to pay for liquor cost a man his life in the Teka Naka area under Kapil Nagar Police Station on late Friday night, police said.
Cops have arrested the accused Rahul Ramteke for allegedly hacking Mangesh Mendhe to death within one-and-a-half hours of the offense.
According to police sources, Ramteke had asked Mendhe to pay for his liquor as he was short of money. However, as Mendhe refused to pay, Ramteke reportedly hurled abuses at him. This followed a scuffle between the two. In the fit of rage, Ramteke then reportedly killed Mendhe and fled the spot.
The series of murders continues to rock Nagpur since new Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal has taken charge. Yesterday, two people were killed in the Wathoda area over a financial dispute. Though arrests were made in both cases, it will be interesting to see how the new Ironman CP counters the murder menace in Nagpur City.
