Nagpur: Sensation prevailed at Waddhamna near Hajrat Sayed shah Malang Baba durgah on Amravati Road in Wadi after goons opened fire at the driver of a Pune-bound luxury bus of Royal Travels when he refused to carry them in his vehicle, on Thursday afternoon. However, bus driver Satish Ramesh Yadav (41), a resident of Ganeshpeth, escaped unhurt. Four goons, sporting jeans and carrying travelling bags on their back, ran away after firing two rounds from pistols.
Most of the drivers of long distance private luxury buses stop near Hajrat Sayedshah Malang Baba durgah at Waddhamna on Amravati Road to invoke the blessings for a safe journey. Yadav also stopped his bus (MH-40/Y-6997) near the durgah at around 3.30 pm. After offering prayers, he was about to board the bus for onward journey.
Four young men approached Yadav as they also wanted to travel in the bus.They picked up a quarrel with him when he told them that there was no seat. They insisted for allowing them to sit in the driver’s cabin. After Yadav refused, they abused and thrashed him. When they tried to flee, Yadav caught two of them. Two others then opened fire at Yadav to rescue their accomplices. After one of them came pointing the gun at Yadav, the latter freed them.

As passersby gathered, the assailants fled the spot. Staff from Wadi Police Station arrived on being in formed by Yadav. On the basis of the description of the goons given by Yadav, and CCTV camera footage, cops took four youths into custody on suspicion. Further investigations are underway.
