Nagpur: Two bike-borne robbers went on a looting spree in Bajaj Nagar area and committed three bag liftings within 45 minutes. The accused sped away after snatching the bags of three women, police said.
The citizens panicked after the sudden broad daylight robberies. The police have registered a case on the complaint of Kalpana Purushottam Borkar, a resident of Gopal Nagar. Kalpana works as a caretaker in Shraddhanand Orphanage. On Friday, at 8.45 am, she was going home after her duty was over. The robbers came from behind on a motorcycle and snatched her bag. Before she could raise an alarm, the robbers sped away from the spot. The bag had a phone, cash and an office account book.
After this, the robbers committed the second robbery near Annabhau Sathe Chowk. Padmavati Ravindra Sathe (65), a resident of Laxmi Nagar, was on morning walk. The robbers snatched her bag and sped away towards Surendra Nagar. A mobile phone and cash of Rs 3,000 were grabbed by the robbers.
The third robbery was committed by the accused near Surendra Nagar basketball ground. Pallavi Vijay Mishra (31), a resident of Narendra Nagar, was on her way to work. The accused snatched her bag near the basketball ground. Cash of Rs 5,000, a Debit card, passbook and PAN card etc. were kept in the bag.
A case was registered by Bajaj Nagar Police. The robberies took place within a radius of 500 metres of the police station.
