Robbery at gas agency: Police arrest two, recover Rs 8.55 lakh cash

Nagpur: The accused have been identified as Mohammad Imran Ibrahim Shaikh (29), a resident of Plot No 34,Rathi Layout, Aathwa Mile and Harshal Roshan Meshram (20), a resident of Plot No 131, Navneet Nagar.

The accused duo had attacked Siddharth Ramchandra Sukhdeve (60), the manager-cum-cashier of HP Gas Agency, with a stick and snatched away his bag containing Rs 12.57 lakh when he was on his way to UCO Bank, Defence Colony, on a Honda Activa to deposit the cash around 10.20 am on December 4. Before Sukhdeve could raise an alarm, the robbers fled the spot on motorcycles.

Police had registered a case under Sections 397 (Robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 34 (Acts done by two or more persons in furtherance of common intention ) of the Indian Penal Code.

After checking the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in Wadi, MIDC, Sonegaon and Ambazari areas, cops nabbed the accused duo and recovered the cash.

Cops produced the accused before the court and obtained demand for their custodial interrogation till December 20. The arrests were made by senior PI Pradeep Rayannawar, PI Vinod Godbole, API Rahul Sawant, PSI Ganesh Munde and others under the supervision of DCP (Zone-I) Anurag Jain and DCP (Detection) Mummaka Sudarshan.
