Nagpur: What initially appeared to be a tragic accident near Rohna Bridge on Khaparkheda-Parseoni Road near Nagpur has turned out to be a brutal murder during a robbery attempt. The victim lost his life when he opposed the assailants during the robbery.
Parseoni Police registered a case of murder and arrested three persons and detained a minor involved in the crime.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin Nagpure, a 27-year-old resident of Rohna village in Saoner Tehsil. The investigation revealed that the murder was executed by the culprits for money. The prime accused Ayush Sanjay Waleke (20), a resident of Palora village, was in need of money. He was accused in a murder case last year. He, along with accused Ujjwal Yeutkar (20), a resident of Palora, and Arpit Shende (19), a resident of Khandala village and a minor, hatched a conspiracy to rob a person passing through Rohna road on Sunday.
Sachin Nagpure, riding on his motorcycle (MH-40/AA-5573), was en route from Rohna to Parseoni via the pipeline road. The accused, positioned 300 meters away from Rohna Bridge, deliberately manoeuvred their two-wheeler in front of Sachin’s vehicle, with another bike strategically parked behind it, said police. The robbers confronted Sachin and demanded valuables.
The situation escalated when Sachin decided to resist the attackers. In the ensuing struggle, he sustained severe injuries. The assailants struck Sachin’s hand with an iron rod, causing him to fall. Later, Sachin was hit by an iron rod. In a state of critical condition, the robbers seized his mobile phone and Rs 720 before fleeing the scene. Sachin succumbed to his injuries on the way to a rural hospital in Parseoni.
Initially, the incident was perceived as an accident, but a thorough examination by doctors revealed that the youth had been brutally murdered. The family of the deceased demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
Superintendent of Police Harssh Poddar directed Parseoni Police to arrest the accused. The accused were arrested by PI Rahul Sonwane, PSIs Shivaji Bhatane, Deepak Kankritwar and staff including Virender Chaudhary, Prithviraj Chavan, Rakesh Bandhate, and Gajanan Ukebondare.
