Rs 95,000 hidden in a gunny bag stolen in Yashodhara Nagar, accused arrested

Nagpur: The age old tactic of hiding money in unusual places to prevent theft has proved a dampener as a miscreant ‘smelled’ the currency kept in a gunny bag and decamped with it. However, his luck ran out and was arrested by Yashodhara Nagar cops.

The complainant Yusuf Khan Pyare Khan (40), resident of Vandevinagar Slums, told cops that he had forgotten to lock the kitchen door of the house on November 9. Taking the advantage of the situation, the accused Mohammed Asif (18), resident of the same area, entered the kitchen between 10 pm of November 9 and 7 am of November 10 and straightaway went to a gunny bag in which Rs 95,000 were hidden by him (Yusuf Khan).

The accused laid his hands on the cash and decamped it with. The theft came to notice of Yusuf Khan when he found the gunny bag not at its original place. He suspected hand of accused Mohammed Asif in the theft of the cash and lodged a complaint with Yashodhara Nagar police.
