RSS chief Dr Bhagwat visits magnificent Sanskritik Kendra at Koradi Mandir

Nagpur: Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Thursday, visited the magnificent Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra at Koradi Temple campus that is now widely acclaimed as a masterpiece of Indian culture.

Dr Bhagwat went around the two-storey cultural complex and was visibly impressed by the grandeur and the display of spirituality and patriotism. During the visit that lasted around an hour, Dr Bhagwat observed in detail each of the paintings that depicted the scenes of Ramayan. While passing past the idols of Lord Ram, Maa Sita and Lakshman, the RSS chief stopped for a while and bowed his head in reverence.

The office-bearers of the Kendra explained in detail about the project, its significance, the culture importance, to Dr Bhagwat. Later, Dr Bhagwat was presented with a coffee table book brought out by the Sanskritik Kendra. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur, has created a unique exhibition complex Sanskritik Kendra with the object of promoting love for Indian culture and evoking patriotic feelings in the young generation.

The magnificent structure of the Sanskritik Kendra has two floors of 14,760 sq.ft. each. While the first floor is the Ramayana Darshanam Hall which showcases 120 magnificent paintings on significant episodes from the Ramayana starting from the birth of Lord Ram, education at Gurukul, his marriage to Sita, their 14 years’ exile in the forest, Sita’s abduction by Ravan, LordRam’s alliance with Hanuman, their triumphant return, Lord Ram’s coronation and so on.

The paintings have a two-coat painting medium to ensure its durability on specially prepared canvas. Every painting has explanatory panels in English, Hindi and Marathi to make it easier for the visitors to understand the incidents. The Ramayana Hall also has artistically decorated ceilings and arches, Yalli Pillars, backlit panels, Shubha Drishti Ganapati, paintings of Bhagwad Gita, Dasha-Avatar, to name a few.

The second floor is ‘Bharat Mata Sadanam’ which aims at instilling the spirit of patriotism and spiritualism. This hall has a bronze statue of Bharat Mata, 115 paintings of Freedom Fighters (from 1857 to 1947), 21 Param Vir Chakra Awardees and 14 paintings depicting the various events of the Freedom Struggle of India. Every painting has been duly described through its write-up in English, Hindi and Marathi languages.

The Sanskritik Kendra Complex also has a high granite statue of Veer Hanuman, divine sculptures depicting Dash-Avatar, Lakshmi Narsimha, and a garden as the ‘Ashoka-Vatika.’ The Sanskritik Kendra is the brainchild of Banwarilal Purohit, Vice-President and Trustee, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and is an eye-pleaser for the visitors.
