Nagpur: The necessary documents of children eligible for admissions in schools under 25% quota under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, submitted after a due date will be considered as valid.
The School Education Department had made it mandatory for the parents of such wards to submit the documents by March 5, 2023. The wards, who are to be admitted under the RTE Act, have to submit the documents like caste certificate and income certificate. Since the process of RTE admission continued beyond March 5, it was not possible for the parents to submit both the documents in time.
It may be noted that some parents had knocked the doors of the Education Department. Accordingly, Rohini Kumbhar, Education Officer (Primary), issued a letter and asked Deputy Education Officer at Urban Resource Centre 1 and 2, Sitabuldi and Block Education Officers at all Panchayat Samitis to allow parents submit the documents after the last date. The copy of the letter was sent to the Deputy Director (Education).
The Department of Education, Government of Maharashtra has already given extension to the 25% admissions done under Right to Education Act (RTE) till May 8, 2023. In Nagpur there are 653 schools having 6,577 seats, for those it received 36,490 applications. Schools have to take care that nobody should be deprived of education. The parents of the wards whose names are selected for the admission will receive the SMS to this effect. If parents have not received any SMS they can check on the official website. Secondly, if the name of a child appears in the list that does not mean the students would get admission in the desired school, the education department has made it clear.
