RTE Admissions: Sitabuldi Police Book 17 Parents for Misleading Details

Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have booked seventeen parents for allegedly securing school admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act by submitting counterfeit documents. This malpractice involves falsified income certificates, caste certificates, and address proofs, aimed at benefiting from the RTE provisions meant for economically disadvantaged students.

The accused parents have been identified as Kamram Samas, Yash Arora, Suraj Ghodke, Mohd Sulim Ali Khan, Shahbad Pir, Salim Baig Ajim Baig, Manish Shahane, Sharad Devdhane, Rashid Amin, Shahbad Pir Khan, Tardev Pawar, Sheikh Javed, Shamshankar Pandey, Brijkumar Chaturvedi, Mohd Irshad, and Anup Kishore Ganatra. The fraudulent activities came to light following a detailed investigation by the Education Department, which scrutinized the documents submitted during the RTE admissions for the academic year 2023-24.

Investigation and Legal Action

Officials discovered significant discrepancies in the submitted documents, prompting the Education Department to hold a hearing for the implicated parents. Upon thorough examination, a formal complaint and inquiry report were lodged with the Sitabuldi Police by Ramesh Gangadhar Gharde, an Education Department official.

The Sitabuldi Police have registered a case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 420 (cheating), Section 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), Section 471 (using forged documents as genuine), Section 465 (punishment for forgery), and Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Ongoing Investigation

Senior Police Inspector Asaram Chormale of Sitabuldi Police Station stated that the investigation is actively ongoing. The police are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for this manipulation of the admissions process, ensuring that the RTE Act’s benefits reach the genuinely deserving students.
