RTM Nagpur University campus to go wi-fi by year’s end, works on to digitalize system

Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has increased its pace in moving towards digitalization. If words are to be believed, the university campus would become wi-fi enabled by the end of this year. The development came in the light of directives given by Ministry of Human Resources Development and University Grant Commission to digitalize the universities in the country.

BCUD Director at Nagpur University Dr. Shrikant Komawar told Nagpur Today that major chunk of work associated with examinations have been put online. The process of enrolling students and announcing results were done and soon the answer sheets valuation process will also be included.

He said in order to make the varsity wi-fi enabled, Mahatma Fule campus, LIT, Law College and the administrative building at Maharaj Bagh would be connected. The new software would link 5000 subscribers, among whom researchers and students will also be facilitated. The plan to start virtual classroom is also underway, he informed.

It may be mentioned that the HRD Ministry has sought queries from universities across the country on various counts like availability of local area network, wi-fi facilities in campuses, optical fibre networking of computer systems etc. The queries have to be responded back at the earliest.
