Nagpur News: The Flying Squads in RTMNU, it appears, have not been provided any wings even after important examinations have started. The main job of Flying Squads is to carry out surprise checks at the examination centers and ensure smooth conduct of exams. However, the examination centers have been left bereft of any safety and security as the number of Flying Squads are miserably at lower side. The exams are being conducted at the risk of Heads of Centers. In this situation, it would not be surprising if any scandalous incidents come to the fore or get covered up because only 5 per cent of the exam centers are being inspected by the Flying Squads.
SUGGESTIONS NEGLECTED:
According to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University Administrative Officers, the Flying Squads must consist of Deans of various Faculties. The Senate Member Pramod Yewale had suggested RTMNU Administration that senior teachers should be deputed to Flying Squads after consulting the Deans. The Deans are occupied by several educational matters and also attend most of the RTMNU meetings. The deputation of senior teachers instead of Deans in the Flying Squads would facilitate regular checking of most of the exam centers and will effectively curb any irregularities. Every district must have at least 3-4 Flying Squads. But the suggestions were not implemented for reasons better known to RTMNU authorities.
THE SITUATION:
It may be recalled, in 2012 RTMNU examinations, many messy affairs had raised their ugly heads like paper leak, parallel exam centers, bogus examinees etc etc. This year, the Flying Squads have inspected only 17 exam centers whereas the number of exam centers set up by RTMNU stands at around 500. However, no special arrangements are being made by RTMNU to curb irregularities. Exams are being conducted with fate in the hands of Heads of Centers.
EXAMS GOING ON:
The exams in the RTMNU’s second phase have started on March 15 that comprise of 50 exams. From April 15, 128 main exams will begin in the third phase. The fourth phase of exams will begin from April 25 that includes 493 exams and fifth phase of 149 exams will begin from May 5. In all, RTMNU will conduct 897 examinations.
