Nagpur: Buckling to students’ pressure, the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has extended the last date of admission to the first year of under-graduate courses up to September 25. The decision was taken by the Vice-Chancellor Dr S P Kane, following wide-spread protests by students.
The date was extended as second examination for Std XI was conducted by the Higher Education Board and results were declared in July. The Director of Higher Education had directed the universities to accommodate the students who have passed the examinations in the second examination. NSUI members had staged agitations demanding extension of the admission dates. The agitation was led by Adv Abhijit Wanjari, who held discussion with Dr Kane.
The formal notification will be issued on Tuesday, Dr Kane stated. The benefits will also be available for those who have cleared the examination in revaluation, as the results were announced after the last date of admission. The decision will be applicable to all the colleges affiliated to the University.
