RTO bribery case: Accused Khode made crores while working as OSD of Ministers

4-day ACB custody for Khode who was caught taking Rs 25 lakh bribe from RTO in Nagpur

Nagpur: The State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday obtained four-day custody remand of Dilip Khode, who claimed to be working as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of various ministers and in Mantralaya, and who was caught while accepting Rs 25 lakh bribe from officiating Regional Transport Officer (Nagpur City) Ravindra Bhuyar.

According to media reports, the accused in the Rs 25 lakh bribery case had made a fortune while working as OSD of various ministers and in Mantralaya. The officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau were shocked after seeing his posh flat worth more than Rs 5 crore in Hiranandani Midas in Thane. An ACB official said that a team of ACB Mumbai conducted searches of accused Dilip Wamanrao Khode’s (50) flat in Thane.

Simultaneously, searches were also conducted at Yavatmal house of Khode where his parents are staying. Incriminating documents were seized by the search parties on Wednesday. ACB Nagpur will scrutinise the documents for further investigation.

It may be mentioned here that Khode was arrested on Tuesday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from Officiating Nagpur City RTO Ravindra Bhuyar at Ravi Bhavan. He demanded the bribe of Rs 1 crore from RTO Bhuyar to stop further action against him based on two complaints filed by women RTO employees. Mentioning the name of Congress MLC Wajahat Mirza, Khode had also threatened that the MLC would list the question in the State Legislature.

The ACB official said that Khode, a Class – III electrical technician with MIDC Amravati, was working as OSD in the State Ministry of Industries from 2009 to 2016. Later, he joined other ministers. Using good contacts in Mantralaya, Khode was especially trapping RTO officials for a long time. The ACB officials produced Khode in the court and obtained his police custody till April 1.

CDR to reveal names of other culprits:
According to ACB, Call Detail Record (CDR) of Khode would be scanned to ascertain where he had made the bribe demand on the instruction of any third person or not. It also came to fore that co-accused Shekhar Bhoyar is a relative of a sitting MLA in Amravati district. He went absconding after the trap. However, he was present during verification of the demand.
