Nagpur: Khaparkheda and Khapa police of Nagpur Rural have arrested four persons on the charges illegally mining sand and transporting it two trucks and two tractors. The sand and the four vehicles collectively worth Rs 12.06 lakh have been seized.
Khaparkheda police, after a tip off, stopped two trucks MH-31/M 6868 and MH-31/CQ 3876 that were found transporting the illegally mined sand on Tuesday. Subsequently, the owner of the trucks, Krishna Keshavrao Nikhare (54) and the two drivers Jeevan Anandrao Amaldinge (40) and Purshottam Ramkrishna Bhadang (40), all residents of Bina Sangam, were arrested. The accused had illegally excavated the sand from Bina Sangam Sand Ghat and transporting it unauthorizedly. The sand and the two trucks worth Rs 6.04 lakh have been seized.
API Bhoyar booked the three arrested accused under Sections 379, 511, 34 of IPC.
Similarly, Khapa police raided Gosewada Shivar and arrested a person who was found loading illegally mined sand in his tractor. The tractor MH-40/L 3316 was seized and the owner-cum-driver Pravin Sheshrao Kevat was arrested. Another sand laden tractor MH-40/AM 0815 too was seized but the driver and the owner managed to flee the spot. Value of the seized sand and the two tractors is Rs 6.02 lakh. A search for the absconding two accused has been launched to nab them.
