Safety First: Nagpur Police to examine post-COVID-19 health issues among cops, Rs 2 Crore to be spent

Nagpur: In a welcome move, the Nagpur Police Commissionerate is gearing up to conduct a major health check-up camp to observe health issues among the cops post-COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 7,357 police personnel will be examined during this drive and a whopping Rs 2 Crore amount will be spent for the camp.

It may be mentioned here that the police had taken enormous risks during the lockdown to ensure strict observance of guidelines, including physical distancing.

Around50 police personnel died due to the deadly virus and hundreds of police personnel were infected during the pandemic.

According to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar the health problems are increasing among the police personnel post COVID19.The camp will be organised to identify the health issues and provide necessary medication to the cops. The tender process for the camp has begun.

Haemogram, thyroid profile, urine examination, blood sugar, lipid profile liver function tests, kidney function test, cancer screening, X-ray chest PA view report, ECG report, 2D ECHO, USG abdomen with pelvis, mammography report (women),Gynecological health check up (women), Urological examination, rectal examination. Systemic examination, eye examination, ENT, Dental Examination and other tests will be conducted in the camp, the CP said.

The Top Cop further said that such in-depth screening of police personnel was never done in the Police Commissionerate.

The expenditure of Rs 2 Crore will be allocated from the funds of the District Planning Committee, he said.
