Nagpur: Leaders and activists of Sakal Maratha Samaj, Nagpur, hailed the decision of Fadnavis Government to provide 16 percent reservation to Maratha under socially and educationally backward category.
The office-bearers and workers of Sakal Maratha Samaj assembled in large numbers at Gandhi Gate in Mahal and celebrated the reservation to community. They garlanded statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and took out a massive rally. The activists distributed sweets and wholeheartedly welcomed the historic decision taken by State Government. Trumpets were blown and activists feverishly dance to the beats of dhol and tasha (drums). The Government has proposed 16 percent quota for Maratha community in jobs and education. The Bill in this regard was introduced on the basis of Action Taken Report (ATR) on the State Backward Class Commission’s recommendations for Maratha reservation.
