Nagpur: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader and MP Sanjay Raut has strongly criticized the handling of the recent hit-and-run incident in Nagpur, where pedestrians were injured by a speeding vehicle allegedly linked to BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s son, Samkit Bawankule. Raut questioned the unequal treatment of the rich and powerful, arguing that the rule of law should be the same for everyone.

“If a common man had been involved in this accident, the police would have paraded him on the streets. But in this state, Salman Khan is let off, a builder’s son is let off, and now Samkit Bawankule is being let off. It doesn’t matter whose son he is; the law should be equal for all,” Raut stated.

“Law and Order in Maharashtra is in Shambles”

Raut further criticized Maharashtra’s law and order, claiming it is being mishandled under the current government. “This incident will be remembered as a dark chapter. Never before has the state had such an incompetent Home Minister. In Nagpur, right under their noses, a serious accident occurred, and several people are hospitalized. Yet, the FIR doesn’t even mention the real name of the person driving the car, and the owner’s name is conveniently missing,” Raut said.

He also referred to a bill from the Lahori Bar, where the accused were allegedly dining before the accident. “The bill shows they consumed alcohol, along with chicken, mutton, and even beef cutlets. And these are the people teaching us about Hindutva,” Raut added in a scathing attack.

“Maharashtra Won’t Forgive You, Devendra Fadnavis”

Raut also targeted Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, accusing him of turning a blind eye to the incident. “On one hand, they preach about Hindutva, Sawan, and Ganpati, and on the other, they eat beef and take innocent lives on the road. What’s happening in this state? Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra will not forgive you.”

Raut also pointed out the discrepancy in how cases are handled, citing the arrest of former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh as an example of political vendetta. “While you dig up a four-year-old case to arrest our former Home Minister, a member of your own party’s leadership is trying to cover up the fact that his son ran over innocent people with a car. How will you atone for these sins?” Raut questioned angrily during a press conference.
