Sanskritik Kendra at Koradi

Nagpur: About 8.40 lakh visitors have visited Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra at Koradi, which was inaugurated one year ago on July 5, 2023 and is a must visit landmark of Nagpur today. This is in addition to the Shri Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Sansthan at Koradi that too has transformed into a magnificent entity.

After the tour of the two storied complex, the people were mesmerised by the serene environment. Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra is now a major tourist attraction in Nagpur and many dignitaries from other parts of India and abroad have also been the prominent visitors. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur created this unique exhibition complex Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra at Koradi, with the object of promoting love for Indian culture and evoking patriotic feeling in the young generation.

The complex was inaugurated on July 5, 2023, by President Droupadi Murmu. The magnificent structure of the Sanskritik Kendra has two floors of 14760 sq ft each. The first floor has the ‘Ramayana Darshanam Hall’ which showcases 120 paintings on significant episodes from the Ramayana starting from the birth of Shri Ram, Education at Gurukul, marriage to Sita, their 14-year exile in the forest, Ram’s alliance with Hanuman, their triumphant return, Shri Ram’s coronation and so on.

Every painting has explanatory panels in English, Hindi and Marathi to make it easier for the visitors to understand the paintings. The Ramayana Hall also has artistically decorated ceilings and arches, Yalli Pillars, Shubha Drishti Ganapati, paintings of Bhagwad Gita, Dasha-Avatar, Ram Hanuman, Gajendra Moksha, Radhakrishna etc. to name a few.

The second floor has the ‘Bharata Mata Sadanam’ which aims at instilling the spirit of patriotism and displays the grandeur of our freedom struggle. The hall has a bronze statue of Bharata Mata, 115 paintings of Freedom Fighters (from 1857 to 1947), 21 Param Vir Chakra Awardees and 14 paintings depicting the various events of the freedom struggle of India. Every painting has been duly described through its write-up in English, Hindi and Marathi languages.

The serene complex of Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra also has a 20 ft high granite statue of Veer Hanuman and the walls display divine sculptures depicting Varaha Lakshmi, Dasha Avatar, Ashta Lakshmi, Panch Mukhi Hanuman, Shri Goverdhana Krishna, Shri Trivikrama etc.

The Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 7 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 8.30 pm. The Sanskritik Kendra remains closed on Monday.
