Nagpur: A school project in Nagpur’s MIDC area triggered a bomb scare forcing the parents to call police. However, the bomb scare has turned out to be a hoax.
On Wednesday, Nagpur’s MIDC area witnessed moments of panic after a suspicious bomb-like object was discovered in the Palekar Layout area of Shubham Nagar on Tuesday. The object, found inside a shoe box at the home of Dhani Ram Naik, triggered an immediate response from local authorities, leading to the evacuation of the surrounding area.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when further investigations revealed that the object was, in fact, part of a school project created by students of Class X. The project was designed to demonstrate how lights can be switched on after wearing shoes, but the unconventional appearance of the setup aroused suspicion.
Upon receiving the report, police teams, along with the bomb squad, were quick to act, securing the area and relocating the suspicious object to a safe location. The initial discovery created widespread concern, with rumours of a potential bomb adding to the tension.
Even DCP Lohit Matani of Zone 1, while speaking with Nagpur Today, confirmed the incident and stated that a thorough investigation was launched to determine whether the object posed any real threat or was simply a harmless matter. He assured that proper protocols were followed to ensure public safety.
Fortunately, the bomb scare was later confirmed to be a hoax, and no harm was reported. The police are continuing their investigation to prevent such incidents from causing undue panic in the future.
