School teacher killed as truck hit scooter in Wadi area, Nagpur

Nagpur: A scooter-borne school teacher was killed after being hit by a rashly-driven truck in the Wadi area of Nagpur on Tuesday.

Identified as Juhi Xavier Andrews (32), the deceased was a resident of Punjabi Line, near Gurudwara, Wadi. Juhi was going on a Honda Activa (MH31/EZ-6487) around 2.10 pm. In front of Rajput Medical Stores in Wadi, a speeding truck (MH-04/EY-5238) hit her. She fell off the scooter and suffered serious injuries.

Juhi was rushed to Mayo Hospital but on the way, she succumbed to her injuries. Wadi Police took truck driver Vishnu Tukaram Neware (48), a resident of Rahate Nagar, Rameshwari Ring Road, into custody and registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code against him. Further investigations are underway.

e-Rickshaw knocks pedestrian dead in Shanti Nagar

A pedestrian was killed after being knocked down by a speeding e-Rickshaw in Shanti Nagar area Tuesday afternoon. The deceased, Arjun Chindhoji Dhakate (55) was a resident of Plot No 45, near Kali Mata Mandir, Kalamna. Dhakate was crossing the road in front of Shalikram Mandir around 2.30 pm. Suddenly, a speeding e-Rickshaw (MH-49/BS-2964) hit Dhakate injuring him seriously. Dhakate was rushed to Mayo Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Shanti Nagar Police took eRickshaw driver Jamil Ahmed Noor Mohammad Ansari (55), a resident of Shangharsh Nagar, into custody and registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code against him.
