Nagpur: A 15-year old girl was allegedly blackmailed and raped by a school van driver in Koradi police jurisdiction. However, the case came to light 25 days after the incident took place. Police have arrested the pervert accused Pawan Kohapade (26), who hails from Nanda village in Khaparkheda.
According to reports, the accused had also clicked the student’s indecent pictures during the act. It’s learnt that the rape survivor and Kohapade are from the same locality. The victim is a student of Standard X in a Koradi school. She had been travelling in accused Pawan’s van from Nanda to her school for a long time. The rape took place inside a hutment at Tope Layout in Koradi area on October 12.

The reports further said that as usual the accused brought the minor girl in his van and on a pretext of taking her for a drive, took her to a secluded place. There he assaulted her sexually and also made a clipping in his mobile phone. As Pawan knew the survivor’s family, she got frightened. Armed with the clipping, the accused Pawan started blackmailing her and forced her to have physical relationship with him. The accused had, on the following day, threatened the survivor to make her obscene images viral on different social media platforms if she revealed about the rape to anyone.
As per the survivor’s version to her parents and police, Kohapade had been demanding physical relationship with her, frequently threatening to make her obscene images viral if she resisted. Though the incident had taken place three weeks back, the survivor was unable to open up about her exploitation fearing humiliation and social embarrassment for her and her family if Kohapade would really make her images go viral.
According to police, the accused on the day of the incident, had picked up the girl as usual from her place for taking her to school in his van but made her get down with him before reaching the destination. He then requested his friends to drive the van to school with other students. Kohapade later took the girl to a hutment at the Tope Layout within the limits of the Koradi police station and forced himself upon her. He had later taken her to school too on the same day and dropped her back home too.
An offence of rape was registered against Kohapade at Koradi police station. Police have also invoked the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocity) Act against him.
