Scolded over junk food, teenage girl kills self in Nagpur’s Khamla

Nagpur: Allegedly scolded by her father for eating junk food, a teenager committed suicide in Khamla area of Nagpur early Monday morning.

Bhumika Vinod Dhanwani (19), a resident of Plot No 482, Sindhi Colony, Khamla, was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta in the kitchen of her house. Preliminary police investigation revealed that Bhumika was suffering from thyroid. Her father allegedly scolded her for consuming junk food. Her father’s reprimand had an adverse impact on her mind and she took the drastic step. She was a student of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). No suicide note was found, added the police.

After recording the statement of Vinod Devidas Dhanwani (45), father of the deceased and director of Jai Ambe Scooters, Rana Pratap Nagar Police registered an accidental death case and started further investigation. Bhumika’s last rites were performed at Sahakar Nagar Ghat on Tuesday evening.
