Nagpur: The reputed Hope Hospitals in the city on Monday witnessed volatile situation with frayed tempers of relatives and other people over the mysterious death of a security guard deployed at the hospital. While doctors at the hospital said the guard died of heart attack the relatives claimed he died due to electrocution. The situation is tense as the relatives and social activists have brought body of the deceased security guard to the hospital and resorted to sloganeering.
According to information, the deceased Rajkumar Gupta (40), resident of Ramainagar, Nari Road, was working with Youth Force Security Company. Rajkumar was deployed at Kamptee Road-based Hope Hospitals since the past two years. On Sunday (May 28), Rajkumar suddenly died in the hospital. The doctors and staff of the hospital informed the relatives that Rajkumar suffered heart attack and died. Subsequently, the relatives reached the hospital and took Rajkumar’s body to home. However, the situation turned tricky when someone informed Pachpaoli police that Rajkumar died due to electrocution. Acting on the information, cops sent the body to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem.
On Monday, relatives along with a group of social activists, office-bearers of Bhim Sena and other people brought body of Rajkumar to the Hope Hospitals and resorted to sloganeering against the Hope Hospital management. The crowd included North Nagpur President of Bhim Sena Praful Barahate, City In-Charge Raja Nagrare and over 100 workers.
The Director of Hope Hospitals Dr Murali chose not to respond to phone calls made by Nagpur Today. Even the mobile phone of Pachpaoli Senior Police Inspector Narendra Hiwre was found switched off.
It is learnt that a team of cops has reached the Hope Hospitals and investigating the matter further. The post-mortem report could reveal the exact cause of Rajkumar’s death.
