‘SHIKHAR 14’, the annual fest of GNIET concluded imparting a blend of fun and knowledge

‘SHIKHAR’ the annual fest of Guru Nanak Institute of Engineering & Technology (GNIET) group, social gathering and socio-cultural extravaganza concluded on its third day of commencement on a grand note! The fest throughout its three day’s journey served as an infotainment that included topics and themes that were non academic, yet imparted fun and knowledge!

The fest got inaugurated at GNI Campus Dahegaon Kalmeshwar Road, Nagpur. The Valedictory ceremony commenced with the felicitation of Chief guest Director of VNIT Dr NS Choudhari, Guest of honor Asst. Commissioner, Social Welfare Mangesh Wankhede and Siddharth Gaikwad, President for SHIKHAR 2014 Sardar Inderpal Singh Tuli, Chief Managing Director GNI Sardar Navneet Singh Tuli with Managing Director GNI Tanpreet Kaur Tuli, Chief Executive Officer GNI Sanjeev Shristava, Principal GNIET Dr NV Deshpande and Principal GNIEM Dr NM Kanhe.

The effort of GNIET to bring a sense of togetherness and Academic involvement was evident. Congregation began with the formal introduction among the attending eminent guests which was taken as a rare chance to share their views and ideas on various topics with special reference to academics, social and cultural responsibilities. However, the main attraction of the first day was the screening of the much awaited RAGA Event, i.e. the enthusiastic singing competition.

At the very beginning of the second day’s events, the gala started with rocking dance performances and breathtaking fashion shows. The day ended with Electrifying performance of rock band ‘Parishram’, the waving color-changing lights of which stuck to heart-thumping beats. GNI students were seen humming along to the catchy tunes of rock band. Enlightening the “Delhi Rape Victim” and “Female Feoticide”, two special performances by the ‘Xergy Group’ and the ‘Ajanmika Group’ were presented at the valedictory by an enthusiastic group of GNI youths.

As an effort to build a sense of belonging to the roots, especially among the young students, the gathering was presented with entertaining ethnic cultural dance and music by many GNI members.  Amongst the panel list were the senior and founding members of GNI.

Guests on the third day were thrilled by the special and selected performances of GNI students, followed by valedictory function. The enthralled crowd was, then, moved by the charismatic speech by Dr NS Choudhari with a strong message to spread the necessity of engineering education to the deprived and underprivileged students of rural area. It was preceded by the organizational reporting from both the principals of the Guru Nanak Institutions to update guests and students on the various projects, activities and achievements of GNI during the previous year.

A prize distribution ceremony was conducted and prizes were awarded to students and staff members for their best performance and academic excellence.

After a well elaborated luncheon consisting of authentic and mouth-watering dishes, students had a good time throughout the annual social gathering ‘SHIKHAR-14’. An energetic group of city bikers thrilled the crowd with the tremours on earth as and when they passed by. This year’s GNI social gathering came to an end on the evening of the third day, with a DJ Party.  The organizing committee thanked everyone who had contributed, irrespective of their physical presence, towards a memorable and successful gathering.
