Std XII and Std X results were declared in one go on Friday without prior notice

Nagpur: The sudden declaration of Std XII and Std X results by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) took the parents, schools and even students by surprise. They all had a horrifying experience on Friday as the CBSE declared results in one single-day without prior notice. Everyone was unaware about the declaration of both the results.

In fact, parents were eagerly waiting for the results but this sudden declaration without intimation made everyone run from pillar to post. For the last few years, CBSE has been declaring its results without prior notice. Around 8 to 9 years back, it had declared its results around 9 in the night. The State Board makes an announcement about the date of result one day earlier with all details. Why CBSE is not able to announce results in time and give proper intimation is a million dollar question.

With CBSE, it seems, ‘shock and awe’ is the modus operandi. With around 35 lakh students, similar if not double the number of parents and thousands of teachers have been waiting for the last few days to know when results would be declared. On Friday morning, as reports of CBSE set to declare Std XII results started going viral, anxiety among students, parents and teachers grew. Clickbait news reports pulled in hits by big margins while frenzied WhatsApp messages were exchanged across the cyber highway to get confirmation.

Ultimately, it was some lucky student in northern part of India, who got to see his mark sheet online and that’s how everybody got to know that results are on the way. Official confirmation from CBSE, along with detailed statistics, followed later.

Even as all stakeholders were trying to recover from the surprise of Class XII result declaration, then came another ‘shocking’ news. A New Delhi school reported that one of their students is able to access Std X results in digital mode, which means that even those results have been declared. Almost an hour after schools confirmed this, CBSE sent in the official notification about the result declaration.

So why does CBSE always spring a surprise and keep all stakeholders on tenterhooks? If some senior CBSE officials are to be believed, then it’s all ‘part of the plan’. A source said advance declaration of results date will lead to millions of people landing up on that site at the same time. Now before official declaration, CBSE starts releasing results beforehand in digital mode, which means the load on servers comes in phases.
